The Studio

The Sidecar Studio is an independently run recording studio in New York City and was established to provide a space for artists to achieve a professional sonic quality without requiring an inflated budget. Located in Queens, The Sidecar was designed as an efficient space to provide all the services you would expect from a larger studio: recording, mixing, and mastering. Unlike many lower budget studios, we hold a firm commitment to room acoustics and accurate monitoring, so at no point will your sound be compromised. We also have a wide range of microphones, preamps, and outboard effects giving us access to an even larger array of tones and aural aesthetics. We use equipment from the top names in sound, including Neve, API, Tube Tech, Apogee, and Dangerous Audio, while still being diverse in our selection of gear. We are confident we have the space and experience to give you the sound you are looking for, without the price tag you might expect.

Services

Studio Recording

The Sidecar is perfectly designed for all your small-scale tracking needs. Our tracking room is acoustically treated to provide a balanced sound and our diverse collection of microphones, preamps, equalizers, and compressors open the door to many different tones so we can make sure that your tracks sound right before hitting Pro Tools.

Location Recording

Our studio goes mobile! As an integral part of the design, we can easily disconnect from our studio and accommodate on-location multitrack recordings. Whether you have an upcoming concert, important recital, or just want to record in a different space, we are well practiced in setting up anywhere and achieving quality recordings in different spaces.

Mixing

While The Sidecar is a digital recording studio, it contains all of the features of a professional analog mix room. We have a well-tuned control room, 24 channels of analog summing, and various compressors and EQs all running through our Tube Tech multi-band buss compressor. We'll bring your tracks to life and get them to the sound you've been hearing in your head.

Mastering

Our chief engineer, Paul Howells, has spent countless hours listening in The Sidecar Studio and tuning it into an accurate listening room. With have a full analog signal chain, including the Dangerous D-Box, Apogee PSX-100 A/D/A Convertor, and Tube Tech SMC-2B, and high-end mastering plug-ins, including the PSP Neon HR EQ, PSP Xenon Mastering Limiter, and Isotope RX. We can assure you we have the tools and experience to finish your album professionally.
